AFSCME Boss Casts Doubt on SEIU's Re-Entry into AFL-CIO

Since Andy Stern's announced retirement this past week, there has been a lot of positive hopeful speculation from the labor-friendly press on whether or not the SEIU and its four fellow unions would soon be re-joining the AFL-CIO now that Andy is gone.

Gerald McEntee, top boss at the American Federation of State, County & Municipal Employees (AFSCME, for short) and arch-SEIU rival threw a splash of cold water on the speculators' parade:
"They are pretty happy where they are. I don't think they will be coming back," said McEntee, who said he spoke last week with Stern and Burger, chairwoman of the Change to Win coalition.

Oh well.  Hopes for one big, happy family reunion in the House of Labor have been dashed...for now.
