Harry Reid gets an inconvenient question about SEIU stormtroopers

During a May 28th press conference, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was asked an inconvenient question by Kerry Picket.
During a press conference last Friday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, told reporters about a bipartisan amicus brief to the Supreme Court supporting the right of military families to bury the remains of their loved ones without being protested. I asked Mr. Reid if the same right to privacy should extend to private citizens whose homes are protested by public unions. Mr. Reid dodged the issue saying, "I don't know anything about lawns and Bank of America executives."

Harry Reid said he didn't know about the SEIU's organized, premeditated trampling of an individual's private property?

Yeah.

Okay.

Sure.

Despite interlopers and IBEW eggmen, Harry's still having a helluva time with the polls

Slightly more than a month ago, Harry Reid, that effervescent noxious Nevada senator, welcomed the possibility of third-party candidates in order siphon votes from his GOP opponent(s) and, therefore, deny his defeat.

Problem is, interlopers and IBEW eggmen haven't helped Harry one bit, as evidenced here:

U.S. SENATE RACE: Poll: Reid loses full ballot test: Third-party, nonpartisan candidates have little impact

U.S. Sen. Harry Reid must pick up far more support from crossover Republicans and independents to win re-election, according to a new poll that shows him losing to the GOP front-runner in a full-ballot election with eight contenders and a "none of these candidates" option.

The survey of Nevada voters commissioned by the Review-Journal shows Reid getting 37 percent of the vote compared with 47 percent for Republican Sue Lowden, who would win if the election were today, while the slate of third-party and nonpartisan candidates would get slim to no backing.

[snip]

"The bottom line is that adding all these minor candidates won't really bleed support away exclusively from the Republican," Coker said. "They're not really bleeding much support from either candidate, Reid or Lowden, and if they do siphon off votes, it'll probably be about half and half."

All Harry needs now is some butter, 'cause he's toast.

Rules for Surviving a Zombie Attack: Union zombies are Building a Firewall to Keep Harry Reid in Washington

Reportedly, there are 32 rules which you must know in order to survive zombie attacks.

Right now, union zombies are mustering their money and their forces to make sure that Harry Reid stays in Washington to keep feeding them.

Nevada, home of Senate majority leader Harry Reid is one of six states deemed by the union zombies at the AFL-CIO to be "firewall" states. What is a "firewall" state?  It is a state "where a large number of Democratic officeholders—governors, senators, congressmen—are endangered, and where there are numerous union members."

Right now, Harry Reid is one of those "endangered" officeholders, with polls showing him trailing his two likely GOP challengers by double digits.  However, November is a long way off and, like any horror movie, the bad guys never go easy.  And Harry Reid says he can rise from the dead.
Despite his underdog status, Sen. Harry Reid declared Monday he's confident he'll win re-election, and he welcomed independent candidates -- who could splinter the vote and spoil any GOP effort to retire the most powerful senator in the most watched race in the nation.

So, without further ado, here are 17 (of the 32) rules to survive zombie attacks*:

  1. Know the zombies:  Unions are a multi-billion dollar special interest to whom Harry Reid is beholden.
  2. Name the zombies:  Make sure the public knows that unions are not "working families" (see #1; expose union fat cats, if necessary)
  3. Expose the zombies:  Make sure the public knows how much money the zombies are funneling to Harry Reid's campaign.
  4. Explain the zombies' goals: Higher taxes, forced unionization and a loss of liberty (see nationalization of healthcare).
  5. All politics are local: The unemployment rate in Las Vegas' is 13.8%; overall, Nevada's unemployment is 13% [How's that stimulus working out for ya?]
  6. Obamacare will raise taxes "on the middle class"
  7. Higher taxes = lower investment = less jobs
  8. Use the zombies' weapons against them (see Saul Alinsky)
  9. Laugh at the zombies' attacks, then...
  10. Punch back twice as hard (whenever the zombies air an ad, air two counter ads)
  11. Ridicule.
  12. Hold Harry accountable to his campaign promises and remind voters of his gaffes
  13. Be creative.
  14. Use the media.
  15. Protest every Harry Reid fundraiser and event
  16. Every time an out of state zombie comes to campaign for Harry, be there (with pickets)...
  17. Make sure video cameras are in hand and batteries are charged**

* In the spirit of free and open participation, we are leaving the remaining 15 of the 32 Rules for Surviving a Zombie Attack open for comments and suggestions (please leave numbered comments below) and will update this post accordingly.

** Video cameras are necessary to ward off unwarranted zombie attacks (see Kenneth Gladney) or, at least, to preserve evidence.

GAME CHANGER! Brown Likely to Head to DC Thursday to Block Becker, Reid & Co.

Great Scott! * **

Things in Washington seem to be changing by the hour!

Ever since Scott Brown won the Massachusetts special election last month, Harry Reid and his Democrat cohorts have been gaming the system, trying to rush through Big Labor's President Obama's controversial nominations like Patricia Smith (as the Department of Labor's solicitor) and Craig Becker before Brown could be seated.

Now, Scott plans to try and stop Reid in his tracks, saying he wants to be sworn in immediately, not next week and Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick appears ready to certify Brown as early as tomorrow at 9:30 am.
Patrick is planning to certify the results at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, said governor's spokesman Kyle Sullivan. "This will ensure that Senator-elect Brown’s request to receive the final paperwork by 11 a.m. tomorrow is fulfilled," Sullivan said in a statement.

Vice President Joe Biden would have to administer the oath of office, and top Senate Democrats appeared ready this afternoon to move on Brown's request.

“Once he gets the certificate in hand, he can be sworn in,” said Jim Manley, spokesman for Senate majority leader Harry Reid. “We are working to swear him in as quickly as possible, which would be as early as tomorrow afternoon.”

There are several votes coming up within the next week that are expected to be controversial, including nominees for solicitor of labor and the US General Services Administration. A vote could come next week on whether to confirm Craig Becker, a Chicago-based union attorney who was nominated by President Obama to the National Labor Relations Board.
Votes on a major jobs bill could also come next week.

If Scott Brown is seated tomorrow, it is not a moment too soon.

Needless to say, however, union bosses are really, really mad.
The labor community is fuming over the expedited plan to seat Senator-elect Scott Brown (R-Mass) this Thursday afternoon, arguing that Democratic leadership is torpedoing one of its most important causes -- the nomination of Craig Becker to the National Labor Relations Board.

[snip]

"Democrats were outmaneuvered yet again," emailed a labor source who was granted anonymity to speak freely. "I'm used to us caving, but they didn't even [try to delay Brown's seating]. They just hit the mat.

"I love how we cave to the Republicans and won't seat our Senator, [Al] Franken. Then we reverse cave and seat their senator. I mean forget the analogy of one is playing checkers and the other playing chess. It's like one is playing chess while the other is sitting there picking their nose."

As the NAM's blog Shopfloor notes:
Caterwauling, too. There’s caterwauling.

Organized labor has elevated the importance of Becker’s nomination, logically viewing him as their man on the NLRB. This afternoon, in an e-mail to Senate staff, the SEIU declared, “This is the highest priority for organized labor…”

We note this background paragraph in Stein’s story:

An associate general counsel for the Service Employees International Union since 1990 and previously counsel for the AFL-CIO, Becker was targeted immediately by GOP lawmakers for being too sympathetic to labor for a post at the NLRB. The White House urged unions not to launch a public campaign around his appointment, arguing that it would pass Congress via an “inside game,” a source working on the process told the Huffington Post.

Was he targeted immediately? We don’t recall that. But if so, perhaps it’s because Becker wrote one of the Obama’s Administration’s first executive orders to slant federal regs toward organized labor.

Purple heads must be spinning and pea soup flying over at the SEIU right now.

* pun intended

Desperate Dems: White House tells Harry Reid "cut a deal"

Tension must be tight in the White House. The President and his Democratic cronies have everything riding on a government take over of the nation's health care. However, resistance is strong against an increasingly unpopular plan, with the president's poll numbers sagging like a two-bit free prostitute in Copenhagen.

Evidence is mounting that the Democrats are getting desperate as the White House is reportedly telling Harry Reid to "cut a deal" with Sen. Joe Lieberman.
The White House is encouraging Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to cut a deal with Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.), which would mean eliminating the proposed Medicare expansion in the health reform bill, according to an official close to the negotiations.

But Reid is described as so frustrated with Lieberman that he is not ready to sacrifice a key element of the health care bill, and first wants to see the Congressional Budget Office cost analysis of the Medicare buy-in. The analysis is expected early this week.

"There is a weariness and a lot of frustration that one person is holding up the will of 59 others," the official said. “There is still too much anger and confusion at one particular senator’s reversal.”

[Audible 'ahh' here.]

Now, President Obama apears to be showing his desperation as well by inviting all 60 Democrat senators to the White House tomorrow:
President Barack Obama will meet with Senate Democrats at the White House Tuesday to press for action at a make-or-break moment for his health care overhaul.

All 60 members of the Democratic caucus have been invited, according to three Democratic officials. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement was not yet public.

Sounds like poor Joe's gonna get a Chicago-style beat down. [We wonder if the SEIU will be invited to the meeting.]
