Did he or didn't he? AFL-CIO boss claims he ‘witnessed’ Tea Party racism

There's making an argument, then there's making stuff up.

A couple of weeks ago, Andrew Breitbart offered a $100,000 reward to anyone who could provide evidence that the "n" word was shouted by a Tea Party protester at the health care protest in Washington.  So far, the Left has not provided any evidence and Breitbart has kept his money.

On Thursday, AFL-CIO top boss Richard Trumka gave a speech at Harvard excoriating the evils of capitalism and, by inference, castigating tea partiers.

Our politics have been dominated by greed and the forces of money for a generation. Now, amid the wreckage that came from that experiment, we hear the voices of hatred, of racism and homophobia.

Interestingly, Andrew Breitbart happened to be in the audience and, during a question and answer period challenged Trumka:



So, Richard Trumka was at the Tea Party protest in DC?

And, he was close enough to "witness" (hear) the alleged hate of the tea partiers using the 'n' word?

How is it that no one noticed him?

How is it he has no evidence?

[If Mr. Trumka was truly there, surely it would give him great pleasure taking Breitbart's money.]

Perhaps he's thinking of the wrong rally where the 'n' word was actually used?

Sorry, Mr. Trumka, we're going to have to call 'bull sh*t' on this one.

A Union Tactic that Truly Stinks...

Some would argue that unions are getting more and more creative in their tactics.  Others would say that union tactics like real coffins and faux corpses are offensive.  But some union tactics, like this one, just stink...(literally):

A downtown hotel that has been the site of a labor dispute for more than seven years alleges in a lawsuit that members of the union representing the hotel's striking workers sent cow manure in heart-shaped packages to scientists to discourage them from attending a convention there.

In the lawsuit, filed Wednesday in federal court in Chicago, the Congress Plaza Hotel, 520 S. Michigan Ave., claims that members of the Unite Here Local 1 sent a heart-shaped package containing cow manure to scientists scheduled to attend a convention at the hotel. The tactic was used to discourage the scientists from attending the convention. The suit did not state when the incident occurred.

Union employees at the hotel went on strike in June of 2003 and that strike continues to this day. The hotel, according to the suit, "continues to adhere to the terms and conditions of the most recently expired collective bargaining agreement while engaging in negotiations with (the union) for a new bargaining agreement."

SEIU's Turnspeaker-in-Chief Andy Stern: The private sector is...COMMUNIST?

"Turnspeak is a cognitive technique of propaganda. The turnspeak practitioner attacks an adversary. Then they turn it around and claim that the party being attacked was the attacker. Because the truth is the exact opposite of the information being disseminated it is psychologically difficult to counter and leads to confusion."

On Wednesday, as the AFL-CIO bosses were goofing around meeting down in Disney World, deciding how to spend their members' money and whooping it up with Joe Biden and Hilda Solis, Barack Obama's best buddy, SEIU's top-boss Andy Stern (the White House's most influential visitor), did an interview with Cornell University's Daily Sun.

When asked why he thought the unionization rate in America has fallen over the last several decades, after correctly pointing out that unionized jobs have been outsourced more than non-union, he predictably blamed weak labor laws, courts and employers. Then, Stern made a rather stunning comment:

...The private sector has decided that they want to give people a communist choice, which is no union. That’s all they really want on their ballot, and anyone who really tries to buck the domination and tyranny of the employer will pay a price.

Then, as a follow-up to the Sun's question: What do you mean by a communist choice?


Stern replied:

I’m just saying that in the communist countries when they have elections, there’s really only one choice. What employers want is to make it very clear there’s only one choice as far as they’re concerned, which is no union.

Now hold on there!  We have to call bulls**t!


Other than this being a fascinatingly-hypocritical comment, Stern is also lying misrepresenting the truth.


According to the National Labor Relations Board (the agency that conducts, for now, secret-ballot elections), unions won nearly 68% of all new representation elections in the last six months of FY 2009 and more than 65% in the first half of FY 2009.


Apprarently, unlike you, Mr. Stern, the "communists" of the private sector are doing a really bad job being the totalitarian thugs you say they are.


But, perhaps, Mr. Stern is merely giving us a lesson at Turnspeak?

UNION BULLSH*T WATCH: The Dirty Dissection of a Union Boss' Claims that EFCA will Create Jobs

Vol. II, Ed. 2

Yesterday, speaking at the National Press Club, union kingpin and AFL-CIO top boss, Richard Trumka made an outlandishly fictitious claim about the hallucinogenically-named Employee Free Choice Act.

In fact, it was so outlandish that we immediately felt the need to call it out as another example of Union Bullsh*t. 

Here is Mr. Trumka's statement [WARNING: We urge you to protect your olfactory senses when reading the statement below]:

"I think you'll see the Employee Free Choice Act pass in the first quarter of 2010," Trumka said. "You'll have it have some real effect. We'll start creating and making new jobs in this country again."[Emphasis added.]

Were it not for the fact that unemployment is over 10% right now and likely to climb, we would have been doubled over in laughter at the outrageousness of his highness' claim. However, given that there are too few of us pointing out today's union emperors' naked mistruths, we are obliged to pull apart the fabrications of Trumka's claims one thread at a time:

1. Unions do NOT create jobs, companies do.  While this should seem obvious to all, it is apparently a foreign concept to union bosses and government bureacrats who believe that stealing from the private sector to pay for public sector 'make work' projects will build properity.
2. Unions hinder job creation.  Even President Obama's Director of the National Economic Council, Larry Summers, wrote that unionization is a cause of long term unemployment.
   
   

   Another cause of long-term unemployment is unionization. High union wages that exceed the competitive market rate are likely to cause job losses in the unionized sector of the economy. Also, those who lose high-wage union jobs are often reluctant to accept alternative low-wage employment....
   
   There is no question that some long-term unemployment is caused by government intervention and unions that interfere with the supply of labor....
   

   
   
3. The "union tax" burden can cripple both large and small businesses, putting union-free competitors (both foreign and domestic) at an economic advantage (see American auto, steel, textile, and trucking industries for examples).
4. EFCA will kill up to five million jobs.  A 2009 study revealed that the economic (read: job-destroying) consequences of EFCA could be disastrous for an economy already teetering on the brink of a depression.

Needless to say, as we saw Mr. Trumka's remarks at the National Press Club yesterday, we knew that the more discerning reader would be able to ferret through the fecal matter of his statements.  However, we felt obliged to call his comments out for what they are: more Union B.S.

If Mr. Trumka were being intellectually honest with himself and reporters, he would have explained EFCA for what it is:

1. EFCA is a Big Union Bailout at the expense of jobs, rights and freedom.
2. EFCA is a bill that will allow unions to unionize workers without a secret-ballot vote
3. EFCA is a bill that will force workers and their employers into government-imposed contracts
4. EFCA is a bill the will cause greater job loss and greater industrial strife
5. EFCA is a bill that will dump billions into the pockets of union bosses and into their puppet-like politicians' coffers.

Union Bullsh*t Watch: Glass-Housed Teamsters Ticked Over "Anti-Union" Flyers

As the adage goes: He who lives in a glass house should not throw rocks.

It is amazingly hypocritical when unions spew anti-employer rhetoric during union campaigns (like here) only to scream 'foul' when someone puts out an 'anti-union' flyer. 

In the case of the Teamsters' attempt to unionize Continental Airline's fleet service workers, the Teamsters organized a bunch of marchers to walk in a circle in front of a Continental office building decrying what they claim are anti-union flyers.  Despite the fact that it is not clear whether the flyers are company issued or the creative workings of some independent-minded employees, somehow the Teamsters think the company is to blame.

So, assuming the Company is the party that created the flyers, so what?  It didn't do anything that unions like the Teamsters don't already do...

Something smells like a lot of union b.s. here...It must be the stench of union-hypocrisy...
